More than 60 years ago the market had no technologies that could repair severe injuries in the tire structure, increasing operational costs of thousands of companies around the world.
In 1955, Italian national Giuseppe Ferrara, owner of retread and repair company Ferrara Brothers, realized that 40% of the tires sent to his company were rejected by his repairmen as they thought the injuries were irreparable.
From that moment, Giuseppe was committed to finding a solution to that problem. Following 3 years of studies, he noticed that there was no option available on the market, and that a new technology should be devised.
Only in 1983, after 28 years of research, Giuseppe put his dedication into practice, and started manufacturing a new repair material for company Fergom SpA. The result was a huge success, and he was able to save dozens of casings from the scrap pile.
This new material, on the top of application techniques, was baptized TAP-RAP. Soon, TAP-RAP became known as the most important tire repair technology in the world, the only one that could repair severe injuries in tire structure, reaching markets in Europe, Asia, Unites States and Brazil.
Today, TAP-RAP has patents that ensure technology exclusivity and remains leader in the industry.
TAP-RAP consists of removing damaged cables and replacing them with new ones, restoring the affected area and giving back its flexibility. It allows for restoration of injuries in every part of the tire; for tubeless tires, providing return to operations without using inner tubes.
TAP-RAP technology. See below some examples of types of injuries repaired with TAP-RAP.
Sidewall injuries (tire’s most sensitive area), up to 60 cables of the damaged structure.
Injuries in the tire shoulder and/or along the radial direction, up to 20 cables of the damaged structure.
